We recently had the pleasure of temporarily welcoming Michael-Carlo, son of Sales Manager Carlo Ragusa, to the Perry Team. Michael-Carlo is studying A level Maths, Physics and Product Design at The King’s Academy 6 Form College in Middlesbrough, with plans to pursue a career in Aerospace Product Design and Engineering.
With his career goals in mind, Michael-Carlo was keen to get some hands on work experience in an engineering role and was excited to have the opportunity to do so in Perry’s on-site workshop and along side our team of skilled process equipment technicians.
During his 2 weeks at Perry, Michael-Carlo got involved disassembling various machines in preparation for refurbishment, performing a hydrostatic pressure test on a reactor and reassembling various gearboxes and drives. He said:
I had an excellent experience working hands on with various machines as part of a fantastic team.
It was a pleasure to have Michael-Carlo working with us and we all look forward to seeing where his skills and already great work ethics take him.

There are many situations in which you may find your company with process equipment surplus to use, including a change of process, upgrades, changes in production sizes etc. You might think the easiest thing to do is to scrap or store your equipment, just to get it out of the way, but did you know that there could still be value in your surplus machinery?
Perry buys high quality used process plant and equipment worldwide from companies in the chemical, pharmaceutical, food and beverage industries. If you are considering selling your process equipment, Perry has a number of disposal options available. We will work with you to make sure you receive the maximum return on your surplus/unwanted items.
We are always actively looking to buy good quality surplus process equipment, including: centrifuges, dryers, evaporators, filters, glass lined equipment, granulators, heat exchangers, mills, mixers, reactors, separators, tanks and vessels.
Perry has the resources to be able to buy your surplus process plant & equipment for stock. However, we can offer a number of options so that you can gain the maximum return on your surplus items.
In order to gain the maximum return on your surplus assets, you may wish to consider the following:
If possible, sell your equipment with its technical documentation, service history, drawings etc, as this is what most buyers will look for.
If you have any spares, include them with the equipment. This will be a big bonus for anyone looking to purchase the unit, knowing they won’t need to buy any at an additional cost.
Make sure that the removal of equipment is done correctly the avoid damage to it.
Show it off
Take some good clear photographs to show its current condition. This will help to get you a realistic offer price. Take internal and external photographs including nameplates, inlet and outlet points etc.
Disposal Options Available:
Perry will offer you a very competitive offer to buy your equipment outright. We can work quickly to inspect the equipment, make you an offer, and then remove the equipment from your site. Payment will be made to you before we collect the equipment and we will always ensure there is minimal amount of disruption to your process.
Consignment or Sales Agent
Choose Perry as your exclusive sales agent and we will actively market your surplus assets worldwide. We will create a dedicated sales brochure and web page, handle the removal of the equipment, arrange the freight and collect payment. Perry can even store the equipment at one of our warehouses.
If you don’t need to sell your equipment in a hurry, you can list it on our used equipment inventory. Your items will be visible on our website, and we will contact you should a prospective buyer show interest.
Use the value of your unwanted process equipment against the cost of buying something else from our stock.
Asset Disposal Package
We can create an equipment disposal package tailor-made for you. We will manage the site clearance including the dismantling, removal and demolition, as part of this service.
If you have equipment to dispose of, call us on 01325 315 111 or get in touch with us using our online Sell Your Equipment form. Our buyers have more than 40 years of knowledge and experience in the used process equipment industry.
Partnering with Perry
If you have recently acquired a processing site or some process equipment, find out how we can work together to sell the assets.
We can offer:
- a very competitive cash offer to buy the equipment outright for stock.
- a joint venture agreement where we work with you to market and sell the equipment.
- a finder’s fee commission when we sell the equipment.
- to bring the equipment to our warehouse to store until it’s sold.
- to manage the site clearance including dismantling and logistics, if required.
If you would like more information about partnering with us, please contact our senior buyer Paul Cook on +44 (0)1325 328 811 / +44 (0)1325 315 111 or send him an email.

We think it’s really important as a company to give our staff the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills. We’re also really proud that a number of our staff started out as an apprentice at Perry and have continued to work for us since! Here’s a quick update at what some of our staff have been up to recently with their continual personal development:
Greg Lyons – Buyer
Greg is one of our process equipment buyers and workshop operations manager. He started with Perry in 2007 as a business apprentice, and once he’d spent a bit of time getting familiar with our process equipment, he was soon buying it as part of our purchasing team! Greg hasn’t stopped learning since really, but most recently he’s completed his BA (Hons) degree in Management Practice.
Greg recently took part in an online talk with Leeds City College as part of their progression week, and was able to let students know the career opportunities that can become available through apprenticeships.
Our warehouse team are time served skilled engineers with excellent knowledge and experience of process equipment in general. A few of them have been busy with additional learning recently, as follows:
Declan Middleton – Engineering Workshop Team Leader
Declan joined Perry in 2014 as an apprentice in multi skilled engineering maintenance, and now oversees our engineering workshop. He is currently half way through his BEng degree in Mechanical Engineering through Teesside University!
Alex Johnson & Alex Ramshaw – Process Equipment Technicians
Our process equipment technicians are multi-skilled engineers responsible for the overhaul of equipment and testing. They’ve both been part of the team for over 5 years and have recently competed some higher education qualifications. Alex Johnson now has his HNC in Mechanical Engineering and Alex Ramshaw has completed his HND in Mechanical Engineering.
Well done team!

Our colleague Julie Morris-Davison recently took part in the online North East Festival of Languages event, sharing her language journey and knowledge with over 200 secondary school pupils! Julie was one of four business ambassadors taking part in the event to explain how they useFrench, German, Spanish and Italian in a range of industries.
Julie has always enjoyed learning languages from her early school years, and she knew she wanted to have a career using them. She graduated in French, German and International Marketing at Northumbria University which included two 6-month placements in Reims, France and Heidelberg, Germany. After graduation she secured full time employment with a number of companies in the North East working in their marketing or sales departments helping them develop export sales to Europe before deciding to move to Germany in 1999 where she spent 7 years living and working as an Export Sales Co-ordinator. She returned back to the North East in 2006 where she joined Perry as a Sales Manager.
Julie is primarily responsible for looking after our customers in Germany & France, but she also looks after some of our customers in the UK and the rest of the world. She’s a regular face at our European exhibitions, and when possible, makes several trips to visit her customers in Germany.
About Express Yourself: North East Festival of Languages
Set up only this year, Express Yourself NE Festival of Languages is a celebration of languages, cultures and communities in the
region. It’s supported by an informal partnership of organisations and individuals who are passionate about promoting, supporting and celebrating languages and cultures. They want people to share their own experiences and knowledge of languages and how it can create so many opportunities.
Events and activities are being set up for those in formal education as well as the community. All events and activities are free. They hope this will be become an annual festival every March. Find out more about this on their website: https://expressyourselfne.com/
