This week the Perry team wore red clothing, collected donations and held a coffee morning for British Heart Foundation’s Wear it. Beat it.
BHF’s mission is to win the fight against cardiovascular disease and their vision is a world in which people do not die prematurely or suffer from cardiovascular disease. They are the UK’s number one heart charity and through 50 years of funding cutting edge research have already made a big difference to people’s lives.
All together we raised £79 and donated 19 bags of clothes, accessories, books, DVDs, homewares and toys to be sold in BHF’s charity shops.

If you find yourself with surplus process machinery, you may wonder how best to dispose of it. Selling the equipment may seem like a chore, but here at Perry we can take care of everything for you including the removal and transportation, allowing you to concentrate on your business. Here’s a brief overview of how to sell your equipment to us:
What’s The Process of Selling Your Used Process Equipment?
We want to keep the process as simple as possible for you, because we know your time is precious and your main priority is your production. In brief, this is how we’d work with you:
- You’ll tell us what you have for sale. You can do this by phone, or by using our online Sell Your Equipment form. We’ll need the specification of the machine/copy of the name plate. We’ll also normally ask for a couple of photos to show the equipment in its current condition.
- We may want to carry out an inspection of the equipment at your site.
- We’ll decide whether we want to purchase outright for stock and make you an offer. We may still be able to help you sell the equipment even if we can’t buy it for stock, as we have other selling options available which we’ll discuss with you.
- We’ll make payment to you and arrange to remove the equipment from your site.
What’s The Benefit of Selling Your Surplus Process Equipment?
Selling your unwanted process equipment to a stock dealer like Perry will give you a much greater return than if you scrap it. It will free up much needed space, and allow you to re-invest back into your facility. We also offer a trade-in service , which allows you to use the value of your surplus equipment against the cost of purchasing a used item from us.

Visit to Steam Machine Brewery
The Perry team took a trip to The Steam Machine Brewery, a local brewer who we’ve supplied equipment to, to take a look around their facility and sample some beers.
Our Administrator, Amy-Jo Saunders, completed her NVQ Level 3 in Business and Administration after joining Perry on an apprenticeship in 2015. Perry understands that apprenticeships have the potential to create a wealth of new talent within UK businesses, whilst giving young people the work experience and training that they need to grow within the industry.
We also understand that the success of its business depends on having a good training program for its employees. Our Buyer, Greg Lyons, achieved his CIPS Level 2 Certificate and is now working towards advanced certificates in Supply Chain Management & Business and also the Masters Certificate in Purchasing Management.

Minimise the Risks Associated With Used Equipment
There are many benefits of buying used processing equipment, the main ones being the money you can save and the immediate availability of it. Despite these benefits, some engineers have still never considered used equipment due to the potential risks associated with it, including whether the machine will be right for their process. What happens if it’s not quite right, and what if the unit needs to be modified to be suitable for your process?
We have been buying and selling used process equipment from our UK site for over 25 years and can offer our customers a Sale or Return option on many of the the items we have in stock. This allows engineers the chance to take hold of a piece of equipment for an agreed period of time to confirm its suitability for their process, before making the decision whether to purchase it or not. If it’s not right, they simply return it back to us. Make the process of buying your used processing equipment easy and risk free.
The best way to understand how Perry can help you is to see how we have helped other companies.
A health food producer got in contact with us as they were looking to increase capacity and wanted to investigate alternative forms of filtration. They were already using a decanter and disc stack separator for the filtration of hemp oil. They inspected a Schenk ZHF-SR10KL SR10KL stainless steel pressure leaf filter which was located at our site in Newton Aycliffe and decided to purchase the unit on a 2 week sale or return basis. During this time they hired a former Schenk employee to assist them with the trial.
The unit was too efficient in terms of filtration and was unsuitable for their application. They returned the unit and decided to purchase a larger decanter centrifuge instead. Again this was supplied on a 2 week sale or return basis and shipped to a specialist company first to test run prior to installation. The unit ran very well and was purchased at the end of the sale or return period. They have since purchased a new disc stack centrifuge to match the increased capacity of the decanter centrifuge.

On Friday, the Perry team took a trip to The Steam Machine Brewery, a local brewer who we’ve supplied equipment to, to take a look around their facility and sample some beers.
Since opening in 2015, Steam Machine have quickly expanded and continue to become increasingly popular. It was interesting to chat with owner, Nick, about their process and future plans.
If you’re ever in the area, we’d highly recommend you give them a visit! Click here to check out their website.
